I'm hoping as well they bump up the options on this rig, because the X305-Q708 still beats this is many areas. This only has two speakers instead of four on the X305 and only a single GPU instead of SLI.

I've seen mention of an X505, not sure if it's the same as the X500, but it looks identical. I'm guessing Toshiba will be pushing more than one model out with the Windows 7 launch, but I have a feeling we still haven't seen everything yet.

There will be an SLI option. Remember the X305 when it launched? The only GPU available was a single 9700GTS. I wouldn't worry about that.

Yeah the speaker thing was definitely a shock for me as well. Im guessing there may be a sub though. Hopefully that is correct.

A single 280m will out perform any 9xxx card in sli..

A single GTX 280m will not out preform dual 9800m GTX's.. Think before you make a statement like that..

    I agree with that.
I'm not sure where you got your numbers from that a single GTX 280M will outperform Dual GTX 9xxx SLI; Doesn't sound right to me.

A 280 will kill either 2x 9800 gt or gt... lock at the 3dmarks,shades and core clock

Thats where i got my numbers from. Besides it you you have read the x300/305 owners lounge... a single 1gb card out performs any 2x 512 in sli. Also wei does not rate for sli performance.... also there are no working sli drivers out... so over clocking is a big no no.

If 280 was not faster than the top end x300/305 currently with 2x9800 gt or 9800 gts. They would not bother making the x500. The x500 is to support the 280 and core i7, since x300/305 only can support qx9300 and 2x 9800 gts (not sure about 2 9800 gtx, maybe dell m1730 only)

it called an upgrade not lets taking yo

if 2x 9800 gt or gts could out perform a 280 why would toshiba release a new ultran high end model, if the current models are faster. The limit for to top end x300/305 whcih are on sale now have 2x 9800 gt or gts and either a x9100 or qx93000.

THe qx3000 is faster than the entery level i7 acording to notebook check. Desides the new x500 is the next generation supporting core i7 and 280 which is the fastest card out ... not much of a performance boost when a 280 is in sli.

Back to my main point if the 280 was faster than 2x 9xxx why would they market a new ultra high end model if the pervious models out perform it. Even the new dell m1730 with 2x 9800 gtx is no match for the 280

The reason notbook check is miss leading is beacuse the number of pixles sets the order for some strange reason... a 260 in sli is not faster than a single 280

look at the 3d marks scores

you also have to take into account the processor. the sli'd toshiba (x300/305) with a faster processor can hit 14k. depends what proc the 280 was tested with tho. as for sli drivers supporting our models (the 706/708) if you look around there are plenty out, they all work. i follow the x305 owners lounge thread, have for some time. do a little more research next time.

Exile and GamerFX, don't base your facts on Notebookcheck.com... Those scores are really biased, depends on proc, memory, etc... If you look at the chart you're basing on, The 9800m GT SLI and the 9800m GTS SLI outperform the 9800m GTX SLI on the 3dmarks06 score... You guys REALLY thing thats correct?
So the GTX280 outscoring the 9800mGTX, umm no, i don't think so... That's 2 HIGH-END models VS 1 "new" HIGH-END model based on the same technology...

And 2 GTX260 DO OUTPERFORM a single GTX280... The GTX280 is hardly 30% faster than the GTX260... Do Maths...

About marketing a new High-end model with older models being faster, you already said it... MARKETING... "New" products for the ppl who think that everything "NEW" is better... They don't care if the new model won't be faster than the older, they know it will sell anyway... cough*NVIDIA*cough
