Installed the card, took less than 30 minutes first time. You need the latest Intel driver as Windows doesnt have a driver for it. Web pages seem to load a lot faster, very pleased so far.

Good info. I might try this on my Qosmio. Looks like newegg has the Intel card for about $20; so a pretty inexpensive upgrade.

    My laptop + 6300 + 3th antenna mod = <3

I've deleted a game from STEAM, it was downloading stable at 1.1MB, shuted laptop down, changed the WiFi card, did a 3th antenna mod. Maked sure the 3th antenna worked, started the same game again, downloaded at stable 1.4MB! :D

Hey looks like the 8104X comes with Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adapter. Would the Intel Centrino N6200 be considered an upgrade?

    Thanks.

Yup. It's an upgrade. If you have to send the Qosmio into the repair depot, make sure to remove it first and replace it with the stock wireless.

    Good luck

I can't talk for sure about X500s, as I have never tried it actually. But Atheros to Intel, could have BIOS limitations, you guys should think about it ;) My X300 does have it.

After having it installed now for a while, to be honest I cannot really see much difference in overall performance. Its not a necessary upgrade but it wasnt expensive. I had no trouble except the Toshiba wifi Radar no longer works. At least it doesnt find any networks in that program but works fine in Windows.
