I keep getting a warning message pop up on my new laptop saying something like "the cpu fan is not workig right, turn off your computer and return it for service". It's highly annoying and it interrupts whatever I was currently doing.

Clearly the obvious thing to do would be to send it back as it's still under warranty, but the thing is I have monitored the temps while stress testing and they are perfectly fine. I am fairly computer savvy and I am 100% sure that there is nothing physically wrong with the laptop, the warnings seem to be random and misinformed. I conclude that the problem lies with some kind of faulty sensor, and so the messages could be switched off without causing harm to the system.

I'd rather not have to send it back as it would be a royal PITA, especially when the problem appears to be so superficious, so I'm hoping someone here knows a solution.

I have tried googling many times but the answers seem to be swamped with "it's broke, it's under warranty, send it back", etc etc, so nothing at all helpful.

I've tried disabling all of the toshiba related processes and uninstalling the utilities that come with the laptop, but it didn't help.

I've also tried going into the bios to see if there was a warning feature I could disable, but the bios seems to have nothing in the way of PC health features.

When the message pops up, the process that it is using is csrss.exe, which is a windows process and cannot be deleted.

So to conclude, I have absolutely no idea how to stop these damned warning messages and I really don't want to have to take the time and effort to send it back for such a non-existant problem/. I have tried absolutely everything that my (limited) expertise allow. My next step would be to open it up and check that the CPU fan was screwed in tightly, but I don't want to do this as it could void the warranty. There MUST be a solution within windows. It's just a damn warning message!

    Please help

If you're completely sure that there's no physical problem in laptop, you can find a Windows 7 DVD and make a clean installation, only install necessary drivers and the toshiba application which gives this warning will no longer be there.

This can after time give trouble, what there if it is any physical damage?

I'm going to suggest you to take this with Toshiba...
