I have plans to upgrade RAM to Kingston HyperX Dual Channel 4Gig x2.

I read specs and read tons of reviews and the memory configuration will work on my Q8102X model.

What I cannot figure out is if I can get the memory to run higher than 1333MHZ.
I haven't purchased the memory upgrade yet but, I have hopes that there is a solution in the BIOS to change the frequency clock speed?

Anyone have any advice to change clock speed from 1333 to 1600mhz?

Congrats on the purchase. I saw your posts on the ASUS subforum and liked how you modified your G73 for more airflow :D

Anyways, as far as the 1600 MHZ RAM, I actually have no idea. It is a Toshiba so it will have a user-UNfriendly BIOS, and will restrict a lot of options.

I know the new Alienware m17x.R3 w/ the i7-2630QM CPU can run 1600 MHZ ram with a few BIOS tweaks. Hopefully there's a similar option for the Qosmio.

However, I'm sure there is a work around. If you figure it out, let us know! That would be one heck of an upgrade for us [1333 vs 1600]

Well, I'm not a AC/DC electronics expert but, I do think that with some RMA voiding mods on the mainboard, using resistors probably or jumpers can change the settings but, I wish to not do that. I <3 to death, the last Toshiba I owned was the Satellite X205-S9810. I evaded Toshiba for the Asus G73jh and was a big mistake! Toshiba will always be my preference from now on.

The only other option that I can think of is a modded Bios. I don't know how to do that and I don't plan on trying either. The other I think is also software overclocking the RAM bus speed to 1600 but, I don't think I'm gonna attempt that either... unless I have a laptop cooling pad running.

Thank you! Proud owner of a Toshiba (or Alienware if I could ever afford that much a year!).

ha ha! thanks... I was very proud to mangle that piece of crap! I was very disappointed with that model. I wish I would have saw it coming, not to mention the Sandy Bridge recall! My laptop was not on the recall list but, I believe it should have been. The GPU was fast until the games started locking up along with the computer itself. Plus, I am never buying another computer from BB again! Sucks though, most gaming laptops are better bought online than in stores :\ . I prefer walking in and tinkering around with them.
