What can anybody tell me about the Qosmio X505-Q880 or 890? I've been researching these and haven't been able to find anything negative about them. I can't believe that there are no complaints about them. Please help me make a 2-grand informed decision. Thanks!

I have the 890 for a week now NO Problems so far. I can tell you one thing I had the Envy 17 for 19 days and sent it back before the 21 days were up. The HP runs hot and after getting the Q890 I have no regrets :)

Thanks for the response. Was looking at HPs at first, until I found out that they have the highest failure rate of the major laptop makers. Then I found the Qosmio Q890 and fell in love with the specs and especially the look.

Two questions for you. 1. I've read that the 890 runs pretty warm too. Have you noticed that? 2. Is the 64GB SSD really small and that you can't install programs on the other drive? Or do you know of a way to do that?

1 Envy17 just playing music files the left side palm rest gets HOT.Looks like a bad cooling system IMO. I have only burned DVDs & Played music files outside with 82f temp. the Q890 is just barely warm after 3hrs as compared to the Envy getting Hot in 20mins. I haven't tested any games yet as multimedia is my primary programs. The Nvidia Gpu uses only 23watts of power as the Ati in the Envy uses 45 watts the same as its Cpu = heat. You will be giving up some gaming power with this Q890 if that is your main use of this laptop.

2 Yes its small I may upgrade in the future. I haven't installed many programs yet as I like testing it looking for problems that I haven't caused. The ones I did install were on the hard drive which is E. I have made folders there the same as windows like Programs. The ones I have installed asked as to were with a box C\Programs\ and Browse box. I highlite the C & type E and it works.
Use the SSD for just the programs you need the speed. Delete the programs you will not be using that are on the SSD.

Build Quality & Sound better than the ENVY 17 IMO. :)

I just got the X505-Q890 yesterday and so far I love the laptop. The screen is beautiful, I was using the Beyerdynamic headphones with the laptop and the sound was amazing for a laptop. Basically the only complaint I have is with the SSD, after all the stuff on the drive there are only around 15GB of free memory available. I will probably upgrade the SSD drive later on.

I've had mine for about 2 months, it doe run a bit hot on a warm day ( like today ), I updated the video driver and it took care of video shearing when I was playing Battle Field 2 Bad Company, i got my boot times down to about 45 second by de-installing some software ( Norton was the 1st to go ) and save my data to the 2nd drive and have installed some programs on the 2nd drive. So far it's more than exceeded my expectations. My previous laptop is a Toshiba A205 that I gave to my wife.

I picked it over the Alienware M17x that is similiar ( if not more powerful ), but after doing much research I found quite a few negative reports on build quality of it.
