I bought this computer and it's on its way to me. Just to be safe and I plan to use the computer for a long time each day, I think it would be best to invest on a cooling pad. I am not sure where the fans on the Qosmio are located on the bottom. Are there any cooling fan recommendations anyone could throw out?

I am looking at this for the moment. Is this good / bad / okay?

I'm using the U3. It's been doing a good job so far, I can't give you any precise numbers. The three movable fans work well, its quiet, and the angle and weight is less than a NZXT. I use a lapdesk that already has an angle to it, so that keeps it from becoming uncomfortable.

My x505-Q893 fits near perfectly onto it. There is a tiny bit of overhang, although I really wouldn't consider it as such. The side curves up from the bottom, and the curve is only part that sticks out. The U series from Notepal is designed so that your laptop can fit into it, and surprisingly the x505 does. I haven't tried fitting it in to a carry bag like that, so don't know how it'd survive transit, but it should fit fine and save a ton of space to bring the cooler along.

(My first post! I finally have something I can contribute!)

I got one of these and absolutely love it. It puts out some serious air. With dual 140mm fans. I would recommend it to everyone. Y=The q896 fits great on it with room to spare.

I had one of these for my old 15" dell. IMHO, hated it.

I've got the x505-q850, it's on 24x7x365 with occasional reboots and routine cleaning. Even gaming, it's never gotten excessively hot where I thought I needed additional cooling. (Unlike my last Toshiba) and I live in Florida. You may try running it without and see you'd be just wasting your money.
