I think they are just late to the party, it just arrived here in Europe, but for the price they are selling it here I think it is a bit of a joke, no way I would put that much down for a Toshiba that has a tendency to overheat and throttle ...

I am about to buy this machine (good sale going on now). Is there a way to set the fan to max speed to reduce the temperature problems? Thanks

    I bought a Toshiba Qosmio X70-A

2400 or 2600 US and the first thing I found out was that the sound didn't work. After searching the internet I found out that this was a common problem.

The fan is on the right side so the air will blow over your right hand if you use the mouse (if you're right handed) The power cord is not a plug, more of a din plug and the contact is not deep and falls of very easy.

And while on the computer you’re not checking the cord until the LOW BATTERY alarm shows up.

1 week after I bought the computer the hard drive sized and I had to buy a new SAMSUNG computer.

I'm not impressed by Toshiba's HIGH END laptop. I have had many (my first Toshiba) and I use to buy 20" but they seems to be very hard to find now a days so I decided to try Toshiba. Service left a lot to wish for, had to buy a new computer while the Toshiba Qosmio was on service as I need my computer

    Never Toshiba again

Not surprised, Toshiba's build quality and QC are both terrible. Bought my first (and only) Toshiba Satellite A665 back in May 2011. Half a year later the LCD broke, then the replacement LCD they gave me died after a week, so on my second replacement LCD now (thankfully still holding up). The optical drive rotor was imbalanced since day 1 and is very noisy when playing DVDs. Then the HDD accumulated over 2000 bad sectors in a little over 2 years and is on the verge of failure. Thankfully I had enough time to backup all my important data and get a replacement laptop. The Satellite still works but the HDD is on its last legs and I fully expect it to go kaboom before the end of 2014.

A shame though, since otherwise the specs are decent enough for moderate gaming (740QM + GTS 350M). Currently looking into getting a cheap replacement HDD and doing a fresh install of Win7 so I can have a functional backup laptop.
