hi there, i just bought a used Toshiba Qosmio X770, its got a i7 2630qm,8gb ram, and a 1.5gb 560m. I ran Prime 95 and Furmark at the same time and left them on for 5 minutes, the 560m settled at 75 degrees, and the i7 2630m- cores are in the range of 95-98 degrees.
Are these temps bad? I think the Cpu's temps are bad.
The cpu idles at like 50- these are the idle temps after prime 95, but here usually at like 30-40.
Whats the best thermal paste? ive used icd 7 but i didnt like it. thanks mx2 or artic silver 5?

It would be rare for 100% CPU and GPU usage to happen besides in the situation you have described above. The CPU load temp is a bit high. Did you make sure to only put a little bit of thermal paste?

I agree with scoots, you are pushing the hardware like a brick on the gas pedal. AS5 is fine, as well with seveal other TIMs. You could add the stick on cooling blocks as per usnroberts posts and you might invest in a decent laptop cooler to help your peak temps a bit.

LOL, as a test, only a test, I placed a vacuum hose directly on the fan with same torture test as yours. My i-5 dropped from 92C to 78C in about 30 seconds via HWMonitor! Damm you Toshiba, where are the vaccum cleaners!
