I do believe that I have located the correct 1920 X1080 LCD panel, and best of all, I got the information from Toshiba.
I was reading through the bios updates when I noticed that one of the earlier updates listed this as newly added support. "Added: Support for the AUO B173HW02 V0 FHD LCD panel."
There you go, the part number for the display we need for the upgrade.
Oh, and ebay has them.

Good find Priest!
-
Definitely a good find priest. Since Toshiba themselves talk about it should have no problem working. I looked up LCD and it is a 60hz not 120hz or a 3D. Not a problem for me since it is at least 1080p.
I am out of touch on computers, I forgot about a possible bios upgrade. Been working for my current employer to long. -
I ordered the AUO B173HW02 Priest-King found, it showed up today. Just got done installing it works, thanks Priest-King for the great find. Blueray and LCD upgrade done, next upgrade ram.

Here's a good deal on the same memory I have in mine. Works great.

OK, managed to find the proper replacement for the Intel Centrino 2230 Wifi/Bluetooth card.....
Here is a link to the one I purchased...
Amazon.com: Intel Network 6235AN.HMWWB Centrino WiFi Card Advanced-N 6235 Dual Band Bluetooth Retail: Computers & Accessories
To have a near-flawless installation, update your drivers from Intel first. You can let Intel scan your laptop and it will find all of Intel drivers Then shut down your laptop, remove all power sources and then install the card. Once I powered the laptop back on, the card was instantly recognized and connection was solid, much better than the 2230 (it would drop the connection several times a day).
The only thing that I needed to work on was the Bluetooth (was not working initially), but all i did was go to Device Manager and uninstall the Bluetooth and then clicked on Scan for New Devices and it installed the Bluetooth correctly and it has worked great ever since.
If anyone is having issues with their wireless card in their X875 even after tweaking their router settings to no avail, this is a cheap solution to your problem. -
That's good information to know, thanks for posting it.

Did you make any progress with this? I have the same problem, and haven't been able to figure out why the cord was getting hot. I wasn't sure since the scematics list an eDP slot in the same rough location as the LVDS slot if the q7390 uses different cords or possibly there's a way to switch modes for the computer to utilize the 7390 monitor. -
I actually called Toshiba Support today, and they said the motherboard, video card, lvds cable all have the same part numbers for the q7390 vs q7380. She said the only things different that she saw were the graphics card monitor and memory... Just as a heads-up. Not sure what that means in terms of getting the 3d or 120hz monitor to work, but thought it was an interesting piece of information. -

Hi
So far, perfect performance and she stays cool.
Basic tip: Always make sure there is enough ventilation on the underside of your laptop and that the air vents are open. I work in IT and one very common problem with laptops is a blocked fan and cooling radiator.
The smart thing is to use a cooling stand- especially for gaming. I have a Cooler Master U3 for desktop usage and a Deep Cool N3000 for when I sit with it on my lap. This way the laptop is much less likely to suck in fluff from blankets, bread crumbs and hair from table tops etc.
Remember, a cool laptop runs faster and lives longer. -
Hey everyone
my mate has just received his Qosmio X875-Q7380. Looks pretty cool!!
The purpose of the laptop is a bit of gaming (practically Counter Strike: Source only!!!!) and 3d modelling etc (autoCAD, Solidworks, etc).
After the fist setup, we tried to launch CS:S to see its performance at max level of detail. Less than 30 fps!!! I immediately checked for an update for the video drivers and installed it, and set the power plan to High performance, making sure that each setting was on "Maximum performance" or similar setting. I also had a look at the NVidia control panel and set maximum performance settings for CS:S in particular. At this point, the FPS should have been dramatically increased. Instead, I can't seem to get past 60 fps. Some peaks of 70, but nothing satisfying AT ALL.
Now: I know some people don't define this machine as a gaming laptop, but Source is almost 10 years old, I refuse to believe that it can't be run smoothly at max resolution. I'd like some piece of advice from someone who had similar issues, or can help me out setting the vga to be always on max performance, at least while the laptop is plugged in.
I'm going to look around again, of course, but I'm trying to find and address the issue ASAP. Please reply! notebookcheck reports that CS:GO (released 8 years after or so) runs at 90 fps at ultra details!!! What the....??????? I'm a bit upset, to be honest.
I have an ativ book 8 which runs CSS at max res (Full HD) and it almost hits 180 fps, I don't want this laptop to stay below 100.
Thank you
PS Ugh, NVidia control panels are so confusing... Glad I'm sticking with AMD -
It may be that because the game is so old, it can't engage the Nvidia GPU.
Older games would not be set up for the modern systems that have both Intel and Nvidia graphics, and therefore may be missing a vital line of code that triggers the switch from Intel to Nvidia graphics.
There is a setting in the Nvidia control panel that will allow you to set some games and Apps to run off of the Nvidia graphics. I
set my PowereDVD 13 to use the Nvidia graphics, and I swear that some movies look like 3D without glasses.
Look under Manage 3D settings in Nvidia control panel. -
Well, I already went through the Nvidia control panel and tried to set hl.exe to be ran off the Nvidia GPU, but things don't seem to get better. We realized that the Dedicated gpu is triggered while the laptop is plugged in, so that's kind of fine. The ony thing that I don't understand is that the game can't get over 40 FPS. It's kind of weird since the same laptop on notebookcheck was able to reach 90+ FPS on Global Offensive which is far more recent than Source. Also, with my 8870M on my laptop I get 4x the performance compared to my friend's Qosmio, so I reckon something must be wrong. What can I try to do to improve FPS? Settings are all maxed on the game, but even by lowering resolution etc I can't get more than 70 FPS. Vsync is off in both Nvidia control panel and in-game settings. -
Try this
Install the latest drivers from the Nvidia site. Then reinstall the latest Nvidia driver from Toshiba without performing a clean install of the driver. That trick has worked on several different systems to get around the issue of Nvidia reference drivers from the Nvidia site not working correctly on Toshiba's.
The trick seems to update the driver, while at the same time adding the tweaks that Toshiba does to all of it's drivers.Obyboby likes this. -
Hey, I was wondering if the x875 can upgrade graphic drives? I have the one with the i7 3630qm, not the 3610. The 670m is great and all, but it's running a bit behind on new games. I was wondering if the laptop is compatible to fit maybe a 770m, or possibly something around that? Thanks

Never mind

:hi2:Hello, Jim here just found this thread hoping to get some answers, I bough the X875-Q7390 a few months back and I just recently started playing video games and well I have had some issues while playing high-end games. Like for example Latest Metro Game running in 1920x1080 3d or not will cause my computers CPU/GPU Temp to reach up to 100 degrees Celsius around 212 Fahrenheit. Which obviously causes the computer to shut down after a few Minutes of playtime. Any one out there having these same problems? I actually bought an aluminum base with 2 fans thinking it might help but I keep having high temp. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Is there any aftermarket cooling system we can cram into these bad boys? I've heard of software like speedfan that might help but at the same time I've read other articles that state its just full of crap, so if anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it. I mean I bought this thing to play not to watch movies or be on FB all day...
I look forward to your comments.
Best regards.
