Hi i have this qosmio x300 canadian model that i had for over 2 weeks now it worked fine but yesterday i was using it and it worked fine then i shut it down and 3 hours later i turned it on but it did't turn on. Now it doesn't do anything when i press the power button. but when i plug it in to the wall the lights on the computer start to slowly get brighter as if it was on but no fan or screen activity this happens just by plugging it in to the wall without pressing the power button.

when i plug it to the wall the light that indicates power lights up as soon as i plug it in also the usb port are getting power i know because i plugged my zune and it was charging. The computer has usb ports that get power even if it is off. i was using the computer with no battery for those 2 weeks as the battery holds little charge but i tried installing the battery and the battery indicator doesn't even light up as if there was no battery installed i also tried removeing the ram and the hdd but still the same any help will be appreciated

    this is the laptop

I saw one in the For sale section last week for about $600.00 Maybe you need it for a parts machine. The ram and HDD is what I would have tried so maybe a power supply? Really doesnt sound good though. Any signs of water damage? Take out the keyboard and look it over carefully. Good luck.

The laptop has had no damage whatsoever i have taken it to a computer repair shop and they quoted me 400$ to get a new motherboard but that is to much for me as the laptop only cost me 370$ on eBay. But i did find this motherboard on the internet but i don't know if the store is trustworthy has anybody here used this store. Here is the motherboard

Wholesale Product Snapshot Product name is Good quality of X305 JSRAA LA-4301P

Also i found this other post on this website and it sounds strangely familiar to this laptop i am thinking it was the person who sold me the computer on eBay as the eBay posting said he no longer needed the laptop because he bought an asus also the laptop had the same problem with the beeps when i installed the battery

Maybe put it back on Ebay and sell it again. Try and find a better machine. Its really sad people use Ebay to recycle there trash. I have bought several items that had problems from Ebay.

It can be your AC adapter if you ask me. What I would try is take out everything, RAM and HDD. And power it on. Nothing happends, then plug back one RAM in (no hdd) if that dosn't work then use the other slot. But as I said, I suspect your adapter.

Well i took it to a 2nd repair shop. Were they repair motherboards they tried to fix it but they told me it is beyond repair. the lady said it was a bad bios chip. I just bought a replacement motherboard for a good price 170$ and the laptop cost me 370$ so final price is 540$ is that bad? the outer casing is in good shape btw

I don't know which model yours is. But, the Qosmios are overpiced. I bet you could get a good deal for 600$ if you searched a bit. My Qosmio had T9600, 9800M GTX and finger print reader, it is a rare model. But the laptop is working now?

    2.4 GHZ intel core 2 duo P8600

    4GB ddr3 1066MHZ

    500Gb HDD

    9800m GTS SLI 1GB

For $550 it's a fair price; that is if it doesn't need anymore money put into it. That 9800 GTS SLI is still pretty good and can play most the games out there (mainly medium to high settings).

NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS SLI - Notebookcheck.net Tech

Only thing I would worry about is the Mother board going bad again.

Those specs. are rather good actually. What I would do is to upgrade the CPU to QX9300. That is the best CPU for your chipset. I know a good seller, let me know if you are intrested.

Ok so i installed the new motherboard and everything is recognized the ram the hdd ect but it wont let me install any os. I tried to install windows xp/vista/7 vista and 7 give me blue screens when trying to install and xp just stays the same.i even tried installing linux and they all gave me errors fatal errors when trying to boot. The motherboard i have is from china and it has many features on the bios that the old one didn't like over clocking and many other things to mention also before the bios post it says Engineering Release - Not For Production Use. is there any way to install os on another computer and then change hdd because it boots the hdd fine i think it might be a cd drive issue but idk this motherboard has a bunch of weird setting. Any help will be appreciated
