I was hoping someone could help me figure out why my Qosmio can't find my N network. I have a M11x that is finding and connecting to the network just fine. My Qosmio can only find the G network.
I am using a Netgear Dual Band Wireless-N router WNDR3300.

Any information about driver? And I'm not familiar with your model but any option in BIOS?
-
The network adapter is a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and I just updated to the latest driver 2015.1.427.2010.
I can see other N networks in range (I live in an apartment complex) but I can't see the N network for my own router.
I looked over the BIOS and didn't really see anything that would really help but I'm not sure if I missed something that wasn't really obvious.
I'm really hoping I don't end up having to buy a new router since everything else I have seems to find it just fine. -
Ok so I found out that my Qosmio can only find networks at the 2.4 Ghz range with the adapter in it. This is pretty disappointing since I was running G at 2.4ghz and running my N at 5ghz. I set my router to only run N up to 270 Mbps at 2.4 Ghz and my Qosmio could find it.
However, even more disappointing is the fact that after connecting the Qosmio to N at 2.4 Ghz, it was only connecting at 54 Mbps. My M11x was still connecting to it much higher. Is this normal for the network adapters they have in the Qosmio x505 line? -
You've already mostly answered your own question. The nic in the Toshiba is a single band and not dual band.
HOWEVER, running N on the 2.4Ghz range sorta can be done if 2 channels are available and unused. If you live in an apartment with lots of signals, you're probably out of luck and you'd be better off buying a cheapo USB dual band dongle and moving to the 5ghz range like I did. Still tho, you SHOULD be getting better than 54Mbps unless, of course, you have a Wifi B class device connecting on your same network.
