The only difference I see is the resolution.
q894 is 1680x945 [720p]
q896 is 1920x1080 [1080p]
And it is a $100 difference.
The question is, is it worth it for a gamer? Will the q894 resolution run games better than a q896?
The q896 may be a lot better when watching blu ray videos compared to the q894, correct me if I am wrong.
Edit:
I would also like to know if it's worth it to get the x505-Q8102 [sandy bridge] over the x505-Q896. Everything seems the same except Q8102 has 140 GB more hard drive space and it's packed with i7 - 2630QM. I could save 200 bucks if I get the q896 over the q8102. Better yet save 400 bucks if I get q894 =[ Can't decide what to get.

I would get the Sandy Bridge over the 94 and 96.
Walmart.com now has them in stock:
Walmart.com: Toshiba Omega Black 18.4" Qosmio X505-Q8104 Laptop PC with Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor and Windows 7 Home Premium: Computers
The new Sandy bridge model has 8 GB RAM and 1 TB ROM (2x - 500 GB HDDs)
However, like you said the only difference between the 94 and 96 is the screen. I have the 894 and it still looks great!
Qosmio x505-q894 VS x505-q896?
