I found one at office depot for 799 and I'm thinking about getting it. I THINK is was the Toshiba Satellite M35X-VIA S311
I'm extremely careful with things but how tough are there and how well built, thanks

Toshibas are decent machines. In my experience, they're pretty hardy and can live a long life. They typically have ****ty cooling fans, so be prepared to replace those after a year or so. Above all, if you buy a Toshiba, get the manufacturer's extended warranty. You'll use it. I'd recommend that with any laptop, though, as laptops are far more prone to part failure than desktops.

Mine is excellent, but some of the lower end Satellites are not recommended.

Satellites are not that good. The Qosmio line up is very nice. But toshiba is not recommended. No offense but their Hard Drivers are horrible.

I used to like Toshiba notebooks - I still have an old one, as a matter of fact. But, when I saw the newer Satellite series, I was disappointed. Their quaility is inferior to HP's. Plastic felt cheap, and the design is so-so. The M35X is one of the worst notebooks you can buy. Take a look at the HP dv5000z and the Compaq V2000Z.

I'd stay away from the lower-end Toshibas, namely the P-Series and the M35X. The M40/45 has so-so build quality, and isn't really meant for real heavy usage. I'd stick to an M50 or M60 for better build quality.
Quality of toshibas?
