My 1st post here, hope it's not too far off the mainstream. Briefly, I'm getting to know my first laptop, one that my buddy gave to putz with.

I noticed that the clock runs OK when the machine is on, but loses time during inactivity periods. I did some web reading, and it seems like the RTC battery may be losing its charge.

My 110CT has no main battery at all in the compartment. I downloaded the Toshiba user guide and it states that the "...RTC battery operates the internal clock. It is charged by the main battery". In the help text for the utilities guide, it says "The main battery also charges the backup battery".

So, I have 3 batteries in all, and it looks like the main battery has to be in there, and probably in good shape, in order for the other 2 to charge?

I would have thought that a charging circuit with 110V AC power would maintain all 3, but if I read this right, the backup and RTC batteries get their charge from the main battery, and won't charge if the main is not there?

    Can anyone confirm this.....Thanks
