Okay .. I already narrowed down to two laptop to decide on. One of them is toshiba sattelite m50 customized 1.73GHz centrino, 512mb, ATI 64mb, 80GB, and DVD-RW. SOh i want to know: 1-) if this laptop is good for extensive use up to 6 hours or more. 2-) if this laptop is good for extensive use of gaming to 6 hours or more. 3-) Any noise or heat? 4-) Anyone who has M50 could please post their specification, how long he/she have it, and any problem since purchase? I would really appreciate it. Thank You.

    Hey there

    I have the M50. Its 1.73, 512, 100GB.

    1. What do you mean by extensive use? Do you mean on the battery? Im assuming not because I dont think that many conputers if any run more than 6 hrs of battery. It can last the whole day on. I left it on the whole day practically the whole day yesterday. (More than 6 hrs)

    2. Gaming....I dont know about that one. Im not a gamer.

    3. It does produce quite a bit of heat on the bottom panel where the arm rests to type (beside the touch pad areas) It gets uncomfortable at times. Mayb if you game, it will be worse. Im not sure about that one. Im a student so I run this comp around to my classes, and battery life is good enough, its light weight :D, I only use it for like word processing, web browsing, email, etc...all the basic stuff. There hasnt been any problems for me. I love this machine. Maybe it might not be suitable for others because they have other purposes for their laptop, but for me, this laptop works fine :D. No complaints as of yet. Ive had it since the end of August. I use it everyday.

To be honest, I dont think this laptop is considered to much of a gaming laptop, unless the ATI makes a difference. I dont have that on here so. From what ive heard from people, they are going with the M40. Its a bit heavier, but depends what your priorities are.

I hope this has helped you decide

I also have this notebook. My specs are: 1.73, 1.5 gig ram, 100 gig 7200rpm HD, and ATI 128mb X600SE.

The only games I really play are stratergy games (CIV) and WOW. I can WOW for long sessions on this notebook fine, and running in wide screen mode at native res gets me about 30 fps in ironforge, which is very acceptable. Battery life is not going to get you 6 hours when gaming.

It does get hot when typing for long periods, but that is the nature of the beast. I must say that the speakers are really nice for movies and MP3s.

I upgraded the ram and harddisk myself, and I sold the MP3 player that came with it on ebay, so all up I spent about $2200 australian dollars.
