Thank you to one and all who help me out here - and on any post. I really appreciate it.
I just bought a new Toshiba T115D-S1125 and as we all know it comes loaded with bloatware. I am not confident enough to make back-ups and re-istall only a clean version of the OS in an effort to get rid of the bloaware. But I do want to get rid of it - or some of it.
Question: has anyone bought one of these machines and just used remove programs to get rid of the worst offenders? If so - which ones did oyu feel it was safe to get rid of by deleting them? any suggestions of the top 5 or 10 that I should consider removing by using the add/remove function would be really appreciated.
I thought I would be brave enough to do it the other way but in reality I just am not that brave. If I was better educated in these things it would be a different story but the truth is I am not that well educated in this type of technical thing. I cannot remove partitions nor set them up, I cannot selectively install components. I am just a user who would like to purge the most offensive bloatware from her machine. So any help here would be appreciated.
Also- I would like to stop the webcam from loading. Anyone have any ideas on that process?
Thank you
B.

There should be an icon on the desktop that will burn recovery disks for you.
Run that.
Now once that is done feel free to delete whatever you want, if you remove something you needed, you can usually find it on the toshiba site.
Otherwise, just boot from your recovery disk and follow the prompts, it will make the notebook like it was when you got it. -
If you post all the programs on there that you consider bloatware, then we can help you with picking which ones to un-install.
As for the webcam - Start Menu > Type msconfig in the Search Box, hit enter > Startup Tab > Disable the entry that refers to the webcam utility. As a matter of fact, while you're at it, there are probably some other things that would be useful to disable, as it will most likely make your system run faster. You will need to find out what entries are important and which ones aren't though. -
Make a System Restore point. Then start going through the Program list and start uninstalling whatever you want. Or you could try a program called pc decrapifier. Google it if ya want.
I immediately got rid of google toolbar for IE and the antivirus which I think was Norton. I got rid of all the Windows Live crap. Games? Quickbooks? Just uninstall anything you don't think you'll need. I ditched MS Office & Works but I wouldn't advise you to do that unless you know for sure you won't need them. If you get rid of the antivirus software and want a free & decent alternative you could try Avast or Avira.
If your not sure about a program, post it here and I'm sure someone will tell you if its bloatware or necessary. -
my thanks to one and all.
