Hi, recently a friend of mine dropped a Satellite A205-S5804 my way to "get it fixed" because it's freezing constantly when he run's any OS that is not Windows or *SUSE (when booted from windows, suse or opensuse it works properly). Also the DVD drive (which worked properly under windows and *suse) stopped working completelly when he tried to install ubuntu (from a shipit free CD). He mainly wants to know if Toshiba laptops come with hardware or BIOS based DRM built-in. Also he have an older Toshiba laptop which, according to the Toshiba specs, supports a maximun of 256MB of RAM (128MB per slot according to Toshiba), but according to the AMD website the motherboard that computer comes with supports a maximun of 1GB of RAM (512MB per slot according to AMD). He wants to know, is it safe to install two 256MB sticks (given that AMD claims that board supports it)? and why would Toshiba claim a lower maximun limit than what the motherboard maker claims?
