Hi. For the last few years I've been very happy with my Toshiba Satellite L305-S5918, but it's starting to show its age. I'd like to upgrade to something bigger and more powerful, and the P75-A7200 looks like it meets all of my main criteria. But I do have some questions.
Is it possible to set up the function keys so that their default functions are the conventional F1 - F12 functions, rather than the dedicated functions as represented by the icons on the keys? I would hate to have to use the Fn key every time I wanted to use the "regular" functions of the 12 Functions keys.
How loud does the fan get, when the machine is under heavy load? Does the cooling seem to be efficient, with the fan responding intelligently as demands on the CPU rise and fall?
I am also kind of wary about trackpads where the buttons are integrated into the pad plate. How consistent and reliable is the track pad and "button" action?
I'd also like to confirm that the installing a second HD or SSD is as simple as opening the bottom and popping a second drive into the second drive bay.
Overall, I'd love to hear any additional thoughts about the P75-A7200, good, bad, indifferent. Anything I should be aware of before taking the plunge?
I'm looking for high end i7 power and expandability. As best I can tell, the P75-A7200 was introduced just about a year ago. So I guess I should also ask are there other Toshiba models that tick most of the same feature boxes? Maybe newer models?
Thanks in advance!
