    Hi,

I have TOSHIBA SATELLITE M45-S256. This laptop is having 512MB DDR1 333MHz RAM chip. I have to replace this chip as it is not functioning. We are getting DDR2 RAM chips with better frequency in the market. Can I use DDR2 RAM chips for my laptop ? or Should I need to buy the same configuration chip ?

Please answer me if you have an idea

    Manoj

DDR2 chips wont be compatible with your motherboard chipset- each chipset, especially on a laptop, is designed for one type of RAM.

Only if your FSB speed is higher than your current ram-bus speed. Otherwise it will not improve performance, and may be a waste of money.
