Hey everyone, my laptop has began suffering from random shut downs. They happen anywhere from once a week, to twice while trying to type this message. It is definitely not heat related, the highest the temps ever get is 30 degrees according to many programs.
What could cause this? I haven't been running it with a battery, just AC, and now I'm afraid that if these shut-offs are due to a random intermittent short it could cause the battery to explode.
I should add it is also not a BSOD, I have the option unchecked to show BSODs and it is a COMPLETE turn off. The computer also turns back on instantly and successfully after this shut off.
What do you guys suggest?
It's a Toshiba A70 by the way, but the power jack problem has been properly fixed by Toshiba.

Well I figured it out.
I took the laptop apart and inspected everything I could. Turns out four of the screws were not tightened very well, and upon tightening them, it separated the motherboard from the casing a bit more. My guess is toshiba may have been lazy during the power jack repair, and over time, the loose screws caused tiny amounts of warping in both the casing and motherboard, slowly drawing them closer together, causing intermittent shorts. -
I've been having similar problems, although mine are BSOD's. I decided to Restore my system, and it took 9 attempts (seriously) to get through the restore without a Blue Screen, so it is obviously a hardware issue.
Anyway, Toshiba is due to pick it up tomorrow, and hopefull it will be a simple fix. Glad I bought the extended warranty
