Occasionally, my touchpad will lock up for a few seconds. I am pretty sure it is a problem specific to the touchpad in one way or another, since the computer stays fully responsive to the keyboard and it's just the cursor that won't move. It happens for absolutely no apparent reason that I've ever been able to discern (except the cursor invariably seems to be just about exactly in the middle of the screen when it happens, for whatever reason), every few days for a few seconds at a time (it always comes back within a few seconds), ever since I got the computer (2 months ago). It's not exactly a computer-disabling problem, just an irritation, but I'd like to figure out what the deal is. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is it likely to be a hardware issue? Software issue? (I tried reinstalling the Alps driver, didn't seem to do anything). Totally unrelated to the touchpad?

I seldom use my touchpad (which I assume is likely the same bacause of the manufacture -- Alps), but whenever I do, it sometimes behaves similarly you described. To be honest, I suppose this part could be of a little better quality.

This happens to me and my brand new Satellite M35X. It usually happens when the processor and hard drive are locked up busy. However, with all the software that Toshiba puts into a single touchpad no wonder it would lock for a few secs! (Toshiba Touch and Launch, Touch Pad, Toshiba Touch Pad Driver version 1.002 and version 1.220) Look at all the software that my laptop found just running the touchpad! [
