    Hey all,

    Found a site that states how to disable/reassign the media keys on the leftside of the keyboard for the x500 series Qosmios.

    I now have my Qosmio where only the eco-button and volume bottons work (everything else disabled).

    how to re-map the Media Buttons? - Toshiba Forums

    How to turn off the system control panel - Toshiba Forums

    =========================================================

    What I did to disable a select few keys (also follow this step to reassign the keys).

    Goto: Start -->Programs --> Toshiba --> Utilities --> Toshiba Assist

    When in "Toshiba Assist" program, click on "Optimize" pane in the left, and open the "Button Manager" program.

    It gives you 3 buttons to choose from (bottom): Eco, Quick Start, and Mute (Quick start are the 4 media keys, excluding volume).

    To disable a button-group (Eco, Mute or Quick Start), type "0" (zero) into the "Target Path" field and hit the "register" button.

    To REASSIGN the keys, click "Browse" and locate the program you want to assign it to (not sure if you can close, or need to hit register).

    ======================================================

    To disable ALL the keys OR disable beeping of keys

    Goto: Start --> Programs --> Toshiba --> Utilities --> HWsetup

    Once "HWSetup" is open, click on "Button Setting" and chose to disable/enable keys/beeping.

    Good luck and keep the Toshiba/Qosmio forums alive! :cool:

    beeping really was annoying... so disabling that was a real benefit

    now.. is there any way to stop full screen mode being taken off when you press the mute button?

    thanks

    Does this also apply to the M640 & A660? Cause I tried those computers out at Best Buy and that beeping was really annoying... :\

    No idea, but since it's Toshiba they might be universal. Wouldn't hurt to try it out.
