So I have to return L305D-S5938 back to Frys but before I do that, I want to reformat the whole drive so all the data is lost.

Somehow I am unable to figure out how to reinstall/format the laptop.

    I googled but couldn't find a solution.

Didn't your system come with a disc called recovery disc? If yes I will tell you how to do this.

It did not that's the issue. I bought an open box & didn't check for the recovery disc until I came home. Now I want to return the laptop & want to return that in it's original state.

I didn't install any apps but just want to make sure any websurfing & other traces are removed before I return.

If it didn't then it most probably means it has to be burned by you while you are in Windows. There must have been a "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator" icon on your desktop the first time you entered Windows and use that to make your own recovery disks. If you can't find the shortcut, or deleted it, search in the start menu for the "TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator".

If you can't find anything, you'll most probably have to take your laptop to your local Toshiba service for them to "recover" it, using one of their own recovery discs (they should have the recovery discs for the models they are supposed to service).
