    Removal of HD for repair?

    Hello, I need to send in my Toshiba Satellite U405d-S2848 for repair and was wondering if it is safe and would not void the warranty to remove my hard drive? I have some personal data on there that I have backed up and deleted, but still do not feel safe leaving it there. I've heard of programs that people can use to recover deleted files.

    Also, are there guides somewhere with required screwdriver sizes and other equipment necessary to do this? I'm not all that familiar with taking apart computers. Thanks for the help.

    I don't think Toshiba will try to recover your files.

    However, give Auslogics BoostSpeed a try, it has DiscWiper function and this make it unable to recover deleted files...

    Here's a pic with the panel that needs to be removed circled in red (looks to be one screw). Once you remove the panel, pull the HDD to the left to disconnect it.
