    Hi all,
Im in the UK and have just got my hands on a Toshiba Satellite Pro L10. It was being written off at work since the screen is broken. From what I can see the laptop itself is still working fine - not majorly high specs etc, but its still usable for basic Office work, Internet usage, and other such tasks.

Im pretty sure it would work fine if I connected it to an external display - its just the laptop screen that is cracked.

I dont know any part numbers etc for Toshiba systems, but does anyone know where I would be able to pick up a cheapish replacement screen for it?? I dont care if its second hand or brand new etc.

Have you checked this web site, they seem to have lcd's for quite a number of laptop brands.
    http://www.screentekinc.com/index.shtml
Update: I just checked on their website and they do carry the lcd for Satellite L10 laptop and for $259.00 USD.

Ive just found someone on eBay that sells the LCDs for around £90 (including shipping etc).

    Is that a good price?

Is the screen replacement an easy task? Ive never done one before......

I would be extremely careful with people on Ebay especially if a deal sounds to good to be true and this one does and it could be a scam to steal your hard earned money.

Since the LCD lid must be disassembled to replace the LCD, just disassemble it and look at the back of the old and busted LCD. The LCD's manufacturer, model number and even the serial number will be printed on a label affixed to the LCD.

Toshiba does not make its own LCDs and neither do the vast majority of laptop makers. Instead OEMs like Sharp, LG Philips, etc. do. That means it's possible that a completely different make and model of laptop, like an HP or Dell, can in fact use the exact same screen as the Toshiba in question, and if you know the LCD's make and model number, the chances of finding a replacement on the cheap easily improve considerably.
