Hi guys I have had a Toshiba P745 for 2 years no with absolutely no issues. However, I will be going overseas for 4 years and I am wondering if the laptop will last for 6 years? Do you guys I should buy a brand new R935 now to ensure I have a laptop that will more than likely last 4 years?
The portege has these advantages over my P745: 8gb ram vs 6gb ram, 1 tb hd vs 640 gb, bluetooth vs no bluetooth, smaller screen (13.3") vs. 14", Intel i5-3230M vs. i5-2410M
My P745 has these advantages over the portege: blu ray, 4g Wimax, harman/kardon and dolby advanced audio vs. regular speakers, quick select keys vs. no select keys.
Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

Hello anyone here? Well I decided to wait a bit and see if the prices of the porteges will drop any further.
Also looking for either Best Buy or Toshiba to have 14" P40 or S series laptops in stock.
The left speaker on my P745 looks to be going or gone so I definitely need a new laptop. -
Sounds like your laptop is meeting your needs, and the portege would only be a marginal upgrade [if that].
As for a new laptop, only you can answer that. Personally, I would use the P745 until it craps out; you never know it may last another 4 years.
Good luck -
Thanks for your reply AlexUW. I agree with you who knows it may just last 6 years.
Right now the left speaker is acting up though and I feel it will stop working soon. That may be an indication that other troubles may be around the corner. Sadly though I just do not see a worthy upgrade from any manufacturer at the moment. So it seems as if I will probably be using this for another year to come.
Replacing Toshiba P745 with Portege R935? Your Thoughts?
