My M35X-S309 is a year old now and I'd like to install a fresh copy of Windows, without all the trial software and other crap that came preinstalled. The restore CD only has two options: factory default install (everything) or pick and choose apps. No choice for installing Windows alone. Does anybody know a way around this?

When you say pick and choose apps, cant you simply tell it to not install any of the Apps?

I too absolutely hate all that extra crap they add on.

You need XP disks for that, not the restore disks. Your options are to buy them or go the route of telling it not to install any additional software.

No, you can't choose. If you select the "Install Apps & Drivers" radio button, you must select at least one from the list. The other radio button gives you the full factory install. I don't think there's any solution other than to go out and buy Windows, but thought I'd check first. Thanks for your replies.

How do you get to this Install Apps and Drivers button thing?!

I pop in my recovery CD and it just says "Are you aware that using this disk will erase all data Y/N" and then "Are you sure you wish to proceed Y/N"

    :(

Have you already restored the notebook? Reguarding the other question: Toshiba bundles their Crapware onto their restore disks :)mad :), at least on the older models. You'll have to go back and uninstall all that unnecessary software once the laptop has been restored.
