    Hello all,
I'm currently browsing through Toshiba laptops (low price and recommended by all of my friends) and the one that has currently caught my eye is the Satellite A660-ST2N01. I don't want to rush in buying it however and am curious if anyone on this forum has one or knows someone who has one. Google brought up no reviews for the laptop, at all, and although I'll probably be glad to buy it (unless I stumble across a better model at a similar price) I'd still like to know what other peoples experiences with this laptop have been like.

Thank you for hearing me out. :)

You can get similar toshiba's for similar prices, but with dedicated GPUs which is a good idea unless you are only concerned about battery life.

Dedicated graphics means that the memory used is seperate from the RAM?

TBH gaming-wise I'll probably be using the laptop to emulate but that is all and video would just be DVD playback, which even the PC I have at the moment does fine with. However, the A665-S6056 and A665-S6058 both have dedicated graphics, with the only important difference between them being that one is 512MB (which is oddly CHEAPER than the A660-ST2N01) and the other 1GB.

I'm a little confused at how they price their laptops having seen the difference between the A660-ST2N01 and A665-S605 (the A665 has discrete 1GB and yet is only 99c more).

I'd like the laptop to last at least three years. It's essentially a desktop replacement for Uni but battery life is not a major problem.

However, should I opt for the 512MB or the 1GB model? 1GB seems like it would only be needed for hardcore gaming/video editing, and probably won't become a standard within the next three years?

If you want to play 3d games (Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare, Mass Effect 2, The Sims 3, etc) I'd go for the A665-S6058

You should get pretty decent performance in everything with that, but, if you want more gaming muscle and to have it be able to play games for longer look to the Asus G series as they can be had fro between $750 and $1500 and have much more powerful graphics cards.
