    Hey guys,

I have an old Toshiba that my W520 replaced, and after taking data off of the girlfriend's Toshiba, I figured that I'll try bringing my Toshiba back from the dead, one more time. I have both mine (in title) and her's with me (L305-S5919).

When it died, my laptop would work just fine, but then one day it just simply wouldn't boot at all. Not even to BIOS or POST. Originally thought it was a problem with the power jack (it was loose inside the laptop frame) and I replaced it with some RadioShack parts and solder. Testing it today, I've tried using both my original battery and the gf's battery. Either way, it seems that power is indeed getting to the board (power status light is green, battery status light on either is orange). However, trying to press the power button results in nil.

Any ideas on what I could try to get it to power up? A caveat though: right now I don't have my soldering kit with me.

    Thanks!

EDIT: After leaving it to charge for about 30min, the original battery and the area around it felt very warm. Probably a shorted battery?

Not sure how to be of assistance, but if you do not receive any help here in the Toshiba subforums, I can move this thread to the Hardware subforums and leave a re-direct so those in the Toshiba forums can still see it.

Just reply here if you want it moved. You can choose to do it now or have it moved in a couple days.

It's fine. I tried the other battery as well and it warmed up quickly as well. I'm not going to try anymore since I'm afraid that it'd become a fire and/or explosion hazard.

(also, I took the whole thing apart for parts already :p).

    Thanks though :)
