I've got a Toshiba Satellite A205 with Vista Premium. It wasn't until when I used the recovery discs on my notebook that the computer doesn't recognize the webcam anymore. The software will still pop up but when I try to start the webcam, it tells me to turn on the Chicony 1.3 MP webcam. I tried reinstalling the drivers for the webcam but at first I just chose any random A205-xxx model on the Toshiba web page since I don't know the exact one I have.
After reinstalling the drivers, I can get the window to open where the webcam would normally start but the webcam still doesn't start. Before, on the device manager, it'd have a yellow flag next to the Chicony Webcam but now it only lists it as an unknown device.
What should I do now?

Aren't the drivers in a Drivers folder somewhere on your hard drive?

You can find your model number of your laptop on the silver sticker(atleast for my L300D it is like that) and it should say the model number. My webcam flicks on and off at times since it's a loose connection I believe. I gotta get it fixed.

Sometimes my cam will open up but not show anything for a moment before things come into focus. Have you tried waiting a minute with the webcam on? If that still doesn't work you might want to contact support..
Riddle me this: How do you turn on a webcam that's stuck on the display?
