Hello. I was looking at the Tecra S2 at Toshiba's site (after reading the review here on notebookreview) and am a bit intrigued by it. It sounds like a good feature balance to me (I prefer a 15" XGA screen). But since I can't search these forums using the term "S2" (too short!), I've been having trouble finding comments about it. Two questions then:

    1) Is the keyboard described by the reviewer (a European keyboard?) the standard one on this model? The Toshiba site clearly says the keyboard is a US keyboard. But if the S2 comes with the keyboard described in the review, I'll forget about this model!

    2) Any other general comments about the S2? Again, I haven't been able to find much here or on the net in general. Not very many reviews/comments. Anyone here have any comments about the S2?

    Thanks.

    Frapa,

Regarding the keyboard, I'm not sure if you noticed, but VinnyMax (user who did the review) is located in Belgium so the keyboards will vary depending on region/country. So if you're in the US, then it would be a US keyboard.

The units that you will find in abundance would be the Satellite series. This is Toshiba's consumer product line while the Tecra's are Toshiba's business line. Most business line notebooks are not that popular because of their high prices and low features, but that's changing slowly.

If you do have any questions for the S2, why not send VinnyMax a note and ask your questions. Since he has one of these units and did a review on it, I'm sure he'll be able to answer your questions.

    Venombite-

OK, thanks for clarifying the keyboard thing. That's a relief!

Yes, I know about the Satellite series; I just didn't see anything that was *just* what I was looking for; they also just look kind of goofy to me (sorry, just personal taste). But...do any readers here know which if any Satellites come close to the specs I mentioned in my post (XGA, PM 1.7+, etc.)?

And yes, VinnyMax's review was very good and informative. I may ask him some more questions about it, but he was pretty clear (general thumbs down, I'd say).

    Seeya!

    Frapa,

You can get a custom config'd M40/M45 if you're in the US, but it's a 15.4" widescreen LCD.

If you don't find anything in the Toshiba end, have you tried looking into different brands? IBM, HP make excellent notebooks. I know HP will have 15" models in their business product lines.

You may want to re-list your requirements here so other users will know exactly what you're looking for.
