I purchased a new Dell E1505 which comes with (2) 512 mb PC4200 200 Pin SoDIMMS....which will fit my older Toshiba 5205-S705. Will the ram from the Dell work in the Toshiba...I know that the Toshiba takes PC2100 but I anticipate that the faster ram can clock down.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Bob

Unfortunately, the RAM you have will not work in the Toshiba. PC4200/PC4300 is totally different from PC2100, in that it has more pins, and uses DDR2, which is generally faster than DDR. Basically, even if the RAM modules fit, they wouldn't be able to use DDR2, because the motherbaord cannot. Hope this helps.
