I've put 4 G of Ram in and now I'd like to put a 256G SSD in. Has anyone done this and how did it effect your performance. It appears to be pretty simple to do but just wondering before I do.

As long as you have a 2.5" drive bay where you can put in an SSD, you should be fine. If you have a 1.8" bay, you'll be a bit limited.
My recommendation for a good SSD is the Intel X25-M 160GB. It's probably a little small, but if you have Windows 7, the performance will not degrade unlike the majority of other SSD's out there. It is also one of the fastest, and is definitely one of the most reliable. If you want further recommendations, just post a thread in the Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades subsection, or post a question in the SSD Thread sticky. -
Hey Shadow,
Thanks for responding, I've ordered a Crucial M225 256GB SSD. Pretty good specs. They just came out with a new SSD last week.
Also, thanks for the direction. I didn't even know I was in the wrong area. -
Good luck with it.

how did it go. I have an X25-M in my Thinkpad T400, and am thinking pf putting an X25-V in a T115D as a "pocket" computer for travel. I won't need much space.
