I would like to replace the original 320GB HDD 7200RPM Serial-ATA with a SSD drive. Is that possible with the A500-ST22 Satellite? If it is, any tips or recommendations for brands of SSD?
    Thanks!

    A SSD should work.
Your laptop is most likely SATA-II compatible; so I would aim for a SATA-II SSD drive [you can probably buy the more expensive SATA-III drive, but it will only run at SATA-II speeds; backwards compatible]. However, nothing is ever guaranteed.

Good luck and let us know how the upgrade goes.

Thanks alexUW. I was able to find that my laptop is SATA-II thanks to the Crucial website. After reading a number of reviews, I am going to try a Samsung SSD that will not be running at its full potential (due to lack of SATA-III interface on laptop). Any suggestions for installing this? I'm not sure if I want to clone the spinner or install fresh. I can't recall if I actually got a Win7 disc from Toshiba.

I installed a Adata SDD in my Toshiba. All I did was make the recovery Media using the Toshiba tool first. I made mine on a USB drive and then when I installed the SDD. I choose recovery option, then choose to make a complete recovery which again adds the recovery partition to the SDD. Works awesome on Win 7, 20 second boots.
