If I order a Toshiba laptop from a website for $100.00 dollars less than if I ordered direct from Toshiba, the same model, would I be getting the same identicle one as far as Specs and quality?

    Thanks,
    Urlee

If it's the SAME MODEL, same NUMBER, then Yes, should be the same, or it will be a scam... If it's a trusted website (amazon, newegg, etc), it will be the same...

For example, i got my SLI1 for 1699$ at amazon, that's 300$ less than the original Toshiba's website price... And is the same machine...

If you post links to both laptop sites then I can tell you for sure.

It's not necessarily true that if it is the name model number it will be the same. For instance, my Satellite L25-S1196 comes standard with an internal wifi card. However, mine didn't have it. :(

Post the links I'll tell you.

I am sorry, It is only $50 dollars less as I was also searching for camcorders and got the two mixed up but here is where I was thinking of ordering that Toshiba: http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=TBA305S6845

    Toshiba site: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?poid=412520

Or would I be better off ordering through Toshiba?

I'd need to see a link to the Toshiba laptop specs as well. To compare the two.

EDIT: oops didn't see that link. hold on a minute :)

Okay here are the differences I see:

    Hard Drive:

    Direct from Toshiba: 200GB HDD (5400RPM) + 200GB HDD (4200RPM)
From Other Place: 400GB HDD (5400RPM)

    Wifi Card:

    Direct from Toshiba: a,g,n support
    From Other Place: a,b,g,n support

    Battery:

Direct from Toshiba: 6000mAh (doesn't state Cells)
    From Other Place: 9cell-(4000mAh)

Those are the differences I noticed in the ads. However, those differences could be due to misinformation on the sites.

Assuming that information is all correct, I'd probably buy from the other place if they are a company you trust. That's just my opinion though. :)

EDIT: the mainboard, processor, RAM, graphics and input devices all appear to be identical.

    Thanks so much Greg,

That's the one problem, is not knowing or ordering from that company before and I see now where you have to sign up for Pal to pay on time.
I may go with the T company as long as it is not the $100 I thought.

If you aren't familiar with the company and they are asking for strange payment methods I'd definitely get it straight from Toshiba. The differences aren't severe enough that it is worth the risk. Plus $50 isn't much extra to pay to feel secure. :)

    Greg,
That is exactly what just ran through my head now.
Thank you so much for your input. "Secure" is the word.

    Thanks,

I bought my x205-sli3 from a cheaper source, but bought the extended warranty directly from Toshiba. Both arrived just fine.
