I have a Toshiba Satellite 2415 and it has a Sandisk drive built into it. I have never used the drive before and never really payed attention to it. I just noticed that my digital camera takes the same cards so I took the card out of the camera and put it in the computer's drive but nothing happened. The little light next to the drive didn't light up and nothing on windows did anything. I looked through hardware and cant find the drive, I cant install it, or find it anywhere.
Does anyone know how to use this drive? How can I get it to read the card? I do not know much about these cards or the drive.

I was just looking at toshiba's site and their detailed specs on it and they dont even have the drive listed. Its not there on the diagrams of the laptop either. Where it should be (above battery release latch) there is nothing on their diagrams... anyone have any ideas?

It's actually called a memory card slot, Sandisk is a brand of Flash RAM. It sounds like you just need to install the drivers for it, try contacting support.

Yea I dunno where to get drivers or what drivers im looking for. Toshiba's site was no help because they dont even recognize that it is in the computer. Do you know anywhere to get the drivers?

Since you have a digital camera, try posting an image of the side of the notebook so we can see the slot. I also checked Toshiba's site and it doesn't list anything on their site regarding a memory card slot. I also did the tour (shows pictures of all sides of the unit) and nothing. What side is the memory card slot located? From the tour, the right of the unit has the FDD & CD/DVD drive & on the left, you have 2 PCMCIA slots. Doesn't look like there's anymore openings that this might fit into.

Yea thats the thing its not on Toshibas site or tours or anything but its in my notebook. Its on the left side. To the right of the PCMCIA slots is the battery release slide and directly above that built into the silver rim is the SD slot. It has a small SD next to it, same symbol on the SanDisk cards in camera. The card fits in perfectly and locks but I am unable to use it at all. Ill work on getting a picture of it.

I had the same question, but now I can answer it! When you put the SD card in the slot, open up my computer and next to your hard drive should be a big blue SD icon. Click on that, and browse around the folders and there you go! Hope this helped.

...I dunno, but I doubt Chuck posted here first without checking My Computer...but who knows?
like Venom said, a pic would help a lot. The first place you should check for info is your user's manual. And if there were ever drivers for that memory card slot, it'd be on the CDs you received with the laptop.
however, you say when you insert the SD card the LED beside doesn't light up or Windows doesn't do anything. if there are no drivers installed for the card slot, Windows should detect a new hardware device when you insert the SD card.
I think XP should also let you access the card by default, even without drivers. like Carigal said, it shows up as another drive like E: or F:.
