I was watching DVDs on my bed. I made sure that there was space between the bed and the vent.

I left my room for abit when i came back my laptop was off. I tried to turn it on again and it would suddenly shut off during boot up. I check the underpart of the caseing and oh...it's super hot.

So I let it cool down and tried to turn it on again and oh....the Fan has stopped working.

Maybe the connector is loose. I've brought the thing to the service center and they said "they're still testing it"

What other possibilities are there that might cause my fan to stop working? Did I fry something?

    thanks.

If the laptop is cool it has no reason for turning on it's fan...
At least my W3J is like this.
When you turn it on the fan will not startup immediately but after a few minutes it starts up.
Anyway after taking your NB back try to check it as much as you can in the support center (if they let you)(Search Complaints.com (keyword toshiba) )
    And about your signature :
Only GeForce 5 is called FX.
GeForce 6 (6600) is not called FX.

Check your internal temp. of your computer with benchmarkers like MobileMeter and tell us what it is.

As for causes, have you been traveling with the notebook often?

I take my laptop out of my room maybe once a week for a gig. So I don't think this is travelling alot. Maybe the coil of the fan overheated since i put the laptop on my bed and it wasn't getting much circulation.

I'm basically just trying to gather all possibilities about what went wrong. Thanks.
