I have a satelite p200 and have been monitoring the heat of the cpu with hw monitor. It usually reads around 65 to 75 celcius (which i now realise is quite high), but recently it just shut down through overheating (when i restarted it, it was sitting at 95 !!!). I just wondered whether the fan speed could be increased. I always have it sitting flat on a table with space around the fans. Is there anything else that could be the problem, it is only 3 months old.

What model p200 and what BIOS version do you have? Could be that there has been BIOS updates that address fan and or CPU.

No, you can't manually control the fan speed.
Try raising the back of the notebook to allow more air circulation.
Tape together a few pennies and put them under the feet for now.
