NEW HOPES for me!
I'll try it right now and will keep you updated.
My XP version already has SP2
-
Still having the same problem.
Did erase all the partitions, and create one for the windows (did the slow and fast mode) and left the other one without any file system.
The same problem happened, after the second restart, a really fast blue screen shows and the windows reboot.
I've done four times, the first was using the slipstream win xp sp2 + sata+video+chipset, then i've tried with just the sata drive and the third was using just ONE of the sata drivers (that one netdiver suggested).
I'm really upset about all this trouble i'm having and really angry with TOSHIBA for not support Win XP anymore for this note (previously this model used to have Win XP instead Vista).
I'll try now doing with just one big partition, and will try to get another win xp sp2 to try.
Netdiver - REALLY Thanks for the complete walkthrought you did, it's amazing. I really hope i have the chance to finish it!!!
Strohs - Thank you so much for you help with this! -
Finally worked!!!
My copy of XP was bugged, i got another one and installed perfect!!!
Now just install the drivers and enjoy!!!
Tks for all the help, fellows -
Finally i got the Win XP correctly installed ;D Thanks you guys for all the help.
Netdiver - the modem still doesn't work, even downloading the driver and running the setup (i really don't mind, i don't use modem at all). -
If you have the recovery/driver CD, it will install the correct modem driver. It says it's for Vista, but will still work on XP. I think it's 'Toshiba Software Modem'.
-
Yeap, it's working now. Thanks Warewulf.
Still have an unknown device, but i'm not worried about it.
jvc_dm - First of all, you need to be using the battery, no ac adapter. Then you go to control panel-power options-advanced
Select the box always show icon on the taskbar
Tks -
Ramires, jvc_dm if you read posts from this tread from begining you will be know that this device is part of APCI control. Use Microsoft Windows Update to install this driver. After connect to Windows Update site instal all safety pathes and driver for this unknow device "ATK0100 ACPI"
-
I've followed the step-by-step from Netdiver, kept the internet connection after installed the Ricoh drivers, but still got these unkhow device. I've done all the updates, and still have this "problem". I'll try again searching for this ACPI control at the net.
Tks Strohs -
the following approach from netdiver does not work for my Toshiba Satellite L45-s7423
14) Get the wireless driver from Realtek (R8187B) from this page:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...ypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#RTL8187B
When you download the Realtek8187B driver you'll have a .inf file. Open the INF with Notepad. Go about 20 lines down under the IDs for 98/ME/2k/XP. One of those lines ends in 8187&REV_0200. Change it to 8197&REV_0200 as that is the hardware ID XP is using in this device. So, now update your driver using Device Manager -
driver_wifi_realtek_26670A.exe -
Did you turn on the wireless by clicking "FN+F8" in vista? I did not before I formated the vista. So xp can see the hardware and can identify it, but it is not turned on and I do not know how to turn on it in XP.
Maybe I have to recover vista to turn on the wireless... but will this cover my data on the drive D? -
Netdiver's post worked well for me. I purchased a L45-S7409 and wanted to remove Vista and replace with XP/SP2 for my wife. I did the slipstream and then started at #8 of his post. The slipstream had XP/SP2 and f6flpy32.exe. At item #11 I opted for WDM_R183.zip. When I got to #13 I did the windows update which included all critical updates and the ATK0100 ACPI Utility under custom updates. I followed #15 and #16 with all items downloaded in Netdiver's post burned to a CDR. Then for #16 look for the missing PCI with a question mark (driver) and update by pointing to the folder created for #16. Then do a complete windows update. To finish up you should have a missing driver for the modem. This is somewhat confusing as to whether this is for the modem or sound drivers which you have already updated. Just right click this item in device manager to update driver. From there point to your CDR that you created and it will install the correct driver. All should be working correctly without issue.
Hope this helps as the rest of this thread helped solve my issue with limited effort. -
1. Wireless Zero Configuration service is turned on.
2. Turn the physical wireless switch to "ON". The switch is located in front of the laptop right below the three LEDs.
Hope that helps -
Thanks to everyone's help here. I recently bought this laptop and couldn't figure out how to set up XP on it. Great walkthrough and I got everything working! Thanks alot!

Do Some One have All Drivers forToshiba Satellite L45- S7409
-
I followed all these steps to a T and all have seemed to work except for step #11. I have installed all the drivers Netdiver listed and still no audio. I check my control panel and it says there are no audio devices installed. Not sure where to go from here, anyone got any ideas? -
Toshiba L35 S 2316 - $350.00 from OfficeRepot.
Vista was the slowest OS since my dual 5-1/4" floppy IBM-PC with 384K RAM.
I tried the 2Gig SD card trick but the programmes had been made unfamiliar
with the menu switches to accomodate post-Gen X marketing for the ADD generation.
It was either this or Knoppix/Ubuntu!! Anyone awake in Redmond?
First thing changed was a large SATA hard disk, exchanging the 512M RAM PC2-4200S for a 2 Gig stick and a fresh install of WinXP Pro SP2
Google search revealed better advices from email forums than Toshiba's forum site.
A number of driver packs were tried with drivers from one and others from another, together with email comments about editing the inf files, resulting in a successful install of everything except the Wireless adaptor.
I use the Linksys WPC54G PCMCIA Notebook adaptor and get out to the Net that way. The Cat-5 NIC works for tethered connections. I have no use for the modem.
My Echo Audio i/o card gave choppy messed-up audio so I uninstalled the card and ran the RealTek driver packs
The first driver pack came from this file < toshibaa215-s7428drivers.zip > available at various sites. I manually installed the X1200 Graphics driver but was never able to get the Realtek 8187B WiFi Driver to work, even after editing the .inf files.
The ATI SM bus driver was accepted as was the NIC. My processor is an Intel Celeron.
The audio drivers were a 2-step: first <Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bussp32646.exe>, downloaded from MSoft <ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe>;
then <motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_azalia.exe> downloaded from one of many sites (Google it)
The laptop worked fine in VGA mode but a Video driver pack was available at ATI
< driver_video_ati_26665B.exe : 102 Megs> This will create a folder C:\ATI\Support in which are various files. This is sometimes referred to as Catalyst control center.
(The following successful procedure was provided by "Randomness", name unknown)
The driver has now unpacked into c:\ati\support\7-10-mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu_53252
Using notepad, open the following file:
c:\ati\support\7-10-mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu_53252\driver\xp_inf\CX_5325 2.inf
;initial INF Code....
[ATI.Mfg.NTx86] ; <---This is the label your looking for
; Insert the following line just below it:
"ATI Radeon X1200/X1250 Series" = ati2mtag_RS690, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_791F
;....rest of code....
Save changes, exit notebpad. Goto device manager, right click on your Video Controller (VGA Compatible), click update driver, Choose the second "Advanced option", on the next screen, select "Don't Search, i'll choose the driver to install" (or something similar). Click "have disk", click "browse", enter:
c:\ati\support\7-10-mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu_53252\driver\xp_inf\CX_5325 2.inf
Click OKAY, then Next. You will get a "driver signing" wanring. Click "Continue Anyway". Let the driver install, and restart your system when prompted.
That's all I report - the Toshiba Satellite is now a working tool and no longer an annoying paperweight!!.
Hope this is useful to anyone having trouble.
