Major problems with my Satellite 1105 which were beyond easy fix, so decided to do a full recovery using CD recovery set (3 CD's) furnished when new. Ran all three per set directions and HD formatted and then loaded files with its Norton Ghost feature. The directions said a prompt would appear on completion of recovery at which time CD 1 should be reinserted and directions followed. No final prompt appeared. The recovery ended with Windows XP opening screen and notation "please wait". After couple of hours there was no change. Can't find a thing in Toshiba's knowledge base and nothing with Google search. I'm replacing this laptop and planned to give it to my grandson but want him to get it in its original configuration. Anyone's help appreciated.

I'd try to do the re-installation again and see if you get any results. This happened a few times on my old Satellite (5100 series). It once took 3 tries to make the reinstall work properly.

No luck with third try. Still ends with WIN XP opening screen and "Please wait". No prompt to reinsert CD 1 as recovery instructions say. I assume CD 1 contains the XP o/s. Is there a way to load the o/s into the notebook by way of a command prompt. If I restart I am able to get to the load choice screen using F8 but I have no idea what command prompt to use. Thanks.
