    I have a Satellite 1110 laptop.

It's old but works fine but the little push switch that is there to detect the lid being shut is playing up ...

It the screen keeps going dim (almost off) in the attempt to save power when the lid is shut ... but of course the lid isn't shut!!

If I tap the button a few times the screen comes back on but this is very tedious ...

How do I tell the machine to ignore the button ... ???

I used to have a Satellite 1110 bck in the days. Had the same problem. Turns out your LCD light is giving out. Sorry to say but your laptop has a little more time to live then it's a goner.

I don't think so as it it's directly related to tweaking that little button ...
