I recently posted a request about not being able to find hinges for my satellite 1405. The good news is that I've found a couple of sources and cost is between US$60 to $80 - the bad news is that postage to New Zealand is US$100..!!

I'd like to ask anyone who has pulled apart a 1400 series whether it's the right hinge that acts as a brake, or is it the left one, or both?? I'm trying to save my pocket by seeing if I can get by with just the one replacement.

Also, is there any way I can get postage costs down to a reasonable level?
