    Satellite A100 DVD/CD Freeze

    I hope you guys n gals can help me out. Everytime or most of the time (95%) when I insert a blank CD-R or DVD-R into my drive my laptop freezes with a blank black/blue screen. Up until today this laptop has responded well reading media from the drive, but today it froze with a store bought DVD movie when I inserted the disk. The following are the programs I have installed regaurding the drive and there versions.

    Pinnacle Studio (9.4 SE) and Instant write (8SE)
    Nero Ultra 7 Edition
    Power DVD ver 7
    WinDVD 5

    i think your options are:

    1. reformat/rebuild
    2. utilize warranty

    EVERY single one of my a100's i've owned (about a dozen) had bad Matshita drives in them...some didn't work right out of the box.

    I had one with a Pioneer drive that was louder, but worked awesome.
