I have a A100-147 and if it has any metal chassis, it is extremely well hidden. All external surfaces other than the screen are either plastic or metallised plastic.

I'm not knocking it. There is nothing wrong with plastic for building portable devices.

Is there a particular build material you're looking for?

The Toshiba Satellite has questionable build quality, lower than HP/Sony/Asus/Lenovo. The Tecra will have better quality, since its a business notebook.

Yes, Tecra notebooks have spill proof keyboards.

Please fill out the FAQ so that forum members can make better recommendations.

Do the Tecra A8 and Satellite A100 you are considering, have similar prices?

There must be other factors to your decision other than build materials though. Perhaps if you could give us a little more detail we could be of more help to you.

The Tecra line is the business line and will have a stronger build than the Satellite line.

I am looking for a laptop similar to Thinkpad Z61m body construction as the Tecra A8 is available but with lower specs like 60GD HDD, Only Core prosessor ,Intel graphics, no built in webcam COMPARED it with the satellite A100 it has got all the latest specs 100GB HDD, Core 2 Duo, ATI graphics etc.

As vista is comming i wont be able to run aero glass on Tecra, also i am thinking tecra will be outdated on specs within next 5-6 months.

I am Advocate who requries laptop with good construction also this will double up as my home computer. Where i require Memory card reader for mobile MMC, Buletooth, Firewire for ipod ,Large HDD for storing music, Faster prosessor for editing videos.

So to sum up i need laptop that can be use both for business and pleasure keepinf budget in mind.

    Thanks in advance!

Well, I would suggest looking at some of HPs notebooks (in their business line, of course), but it would really help if you filled out the FAQ as the others have stated.
