My screen blacks out after about an hour of use. First there are a few flickers and then I get a dark gray screen with a few horizontal white lines about a third way down the screen. The computer works, the keyboard works but the screen is dead until I start the computer back up again and then all is fine.

I tried removing the battery while it was blacked out and the screen started flashing white bits but it remained black. I tried running the computer without the battery but it also blacked out, though it took longer for it to do so. While blacked out I connected an external video but I got no picture. I have yet to try running it from start up on an external screen.

What can it be? I have read on some sites about screens and invertors. Could it a problem with one of those, and if so how do I determine which it is?

    Many thanks.
