I just had my 64 MB SD memory card from my digital camera in my SD card slot in my A105-S4284 laptop and it worked fine but when I put my new Sandisk 8 GIG SDHC card from a new Canon Camcorder in the slot, nothing happened. Does anybody know if the built in card slot is compatible with SDHC cards or I need a different driver or something? Thanks.

How old is that A105? SDHC support is rare in notebooks more than about 2 years old, but sometimes it is a case of finding both a newer driver and a patch for XP (which might have been included in SP3 which came out in ealry 2008).

See this thread, particularly my post 12, as an example. This thread may also be relevant.

Use Device Manager to find out the make of your SD card reader and then Google for a newer driver. The hardware may be a family so the driver for a newer version of the hardware may work.

Otherwise you will need to get a USB-SDHC adaptor.

my Old P4 Toshiba p30 would only take 2gb SD , but after i updated the drivers it took a 4gb SDHC card.

I used DriverMax to get the new driver.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I might as well try looking for a driver update like Tinderbox said before getting a new card reader.
