Satellite A135-S4656 XP install instructions

I have read the threads. Who has XP working with no problems? What method did you apply? I read some people having fan issues? Is SATA drivers needed? I'm getting BestBuy version with intel video driver. Why on earth could Toshiba not be like every other company and post XP drivers easily?? I don't want to hear because it came with Vista response either lol. No new computer should be sold with 512 with vista. I can't wait to get this going and create an image .

I have Chipoates distro @ http://gca.hopto.org:9090/ - I'm only going to keep this up for a little awhile. 70 meg download and the files have not been tested or known to work - use at your own risk.

 

Drivers and process has been tested to be good, as far as I can tell. My device manager looks clean now. I would add to his procedure you need to go into video directory and double click the file to run the video driver process as update driver does not work for the video driver, at least for me.

thanks for the work you did. In am running windows 2003 server which is basically the same as xp. i was able to get almost everything to work using the zip file. (I had to get 'fancy' and run the display driver executable in 'windows xp compatibility' mode to bypass the driver's operating system check). The only thing that is still outstanding is that 'PCI Device' is still unidentified. I'm not sure what this device is since I installed everything from the zip file. Do you know?

Also, do I have to do something special to get the built-in card reader to work?

Actually, don't worry about it - some how (through lots of different trial and error), I actually have everything working! Driver Genius helped as well. I'm currently creating a backup of all the drivers.

All - I currently have Windows 2003 Enterprise (32 bit) working successfully on this laptop. let me know if you want me to provide a package with the drivers.

I've added Windows 2003 driver install pack to the website. Not sure if all the drivers work for Windows XP though. Thanks to Winbatch for nice little distro.

Btw - buyer beware on this laptop. My 1st one came with DOA keyboard and replacement had loose parts inside the notebook Very very bad model for Toshiba indeed.

Also have a A135-S4656 that I am working on downgrading for a friend who just can't handle how slow it runs Vista. The distro above would be very useful!! Any chance it could be upped somewhere again for access?
