I have an Satellite A20 and the LCD Backlight has died. Where would I get a replacement, and could it be replaced myself?
Thanks guys!

Hey,
What makes you think it's the backlight? The link you posted is for an inverter, which you probably could replace, but won't help you if the backlight is out.
Is there any image on the lcd at all, even a very dim one? You probably need an inverter, although I've got an a15 right now that apparently isn't sending signal to the lcd. It sends to external just fine, but not to lcd. Tried new inverter, new lcd, no difference. I think you need to check on external first, then let us know what you find.
Good luck -
sorry, i should have also mentioned that.
output works, external display is great. the lcd on the notebook does show the image but very very dim. it worked the other day but for the last few months had been flickering lots and had a red hue.
i purchased that inverter so hopefully it will fix the problem. what do you think? -
well the red hue isn't good, but if you have a dim image, the inverter should work. That red image is a sign of a backlight going though. Sorry. I might have an lcd, I'll check in the am

can't i just replace the backlight then?

No. Actually, the fact is, if you are asking the question, the answer is probably no. I find it not a good use of my time to do backlights, and I'm in laptops every day. The best thing is to just get a new lcd. You've got a new inverter, right? There's a possibility it still won't work, (as I mentioned earlier) but I think you'd be best served with a new lcd, probably between $125-200.00 and they're fairly easy to swap out.
