Satellite A205-S5800 XP Drivers

Ok,

I cannot stand Vista (Home Basic like my lappy came with or Home Premium like the fiance's came with) and installed XP on my A205-S5800. The only thing I cannot find is the HotKey utility so I can actually change the screen brightness. There were drivers for everything else on the restore CD (that actually worked in XP no less), but they do not list any hotkey utility in their install list. Does anyone know where I can find this?

 

What you need is the Toshiba Utility - Toshiba Value Added Package for Windows . If you go to Toshiba Support you can find it for Vista but I am not seeing it for XP. I have found that some Vista drivers will work in XP.

 

Ok, I will try the Vista one tonight. Although I am thinking I will redo XP as I have installed and uninstalled so much is it probably FUBAR already.

 

How did you XP installed? When I tried, it became apparent that I needed to load a driver for the hard drive when the first XP screen appeared during installation.

 

i slipstreamed the sata drivers into the install disc using nlite.

 

ok, the vista version will not install. i am gonna try running windows update to see if it will install when that is done, but otherwise i may have to try to hack the installer to tell it xp is ok to install on.

 

well, it no longer matters. my 2 week old laptop stopped seeing its hard drive

time to call toshiba to see what they have to say.

 

I found the programs needed to get the FN key and F6/F7 to change the brightness of the screen. They are on the Toshiba drivers page for Asia. Has anyone found the video driver?

 

Toshiba drivers page for Asia is very good but my FN+F6/F7 doesn't work. Have any idea for XP ?

I cannot downgrate vista to xp sp2. I dont know why, but when i put the cd of xp it run but later dont find any hard disk drive .... what can i do for thise...

 

I need help dont know how to do to downgrate vista to xp sp2 ... I get an error that can not find the hard drive and only makes me f3 to leave the instalation and nothing more, What can i do now.

propably you must change your xp installer by using nLite. U must add sata driver to CD XP installer. You can find chipset to your hard drive in intel web site, after that you must add this in nLite.

 

just disable SATA Native option in BIOS

I have no idea how to PM you but I'm having problems with finding drivers for my Satelite A215-S5815. All I need is the LAN driver for XP but I can't find any that work.

Strange thing. When I install lan drivers I've found on the web the link light goes out.

Any ideas/suggestions?

 

i have a toshiba satellite a205-s5800 that i got for my gf for her 18th birthday but when i got it-it had vista on it & she doesnt like vista so ive been trying to downgrade it-got the hd formatted so its clean, and now xp wont detect the HDD because i need drivers-hster2 or anyone else can you please help me out so she can start enjoying her present i would greatly appreciate it!!! i checked on the toshiba & toshiba europe sites & the best i could do was come up with a bios with the drivers already, but i dont know how flash a bios and i really dont want to severely mess up this computer-any help would be GREATLY appreciated-all i need is for xp to recognize that the HDD is THERE & im good to go-i can do the rest. someone please help me out, id be SOOO grateful!!
