Satellite A215-S7416??? Can't find info, any good??

The A215-S7416 is on sale at my local walmart for 598. I cannot find any specs or info on it and I have googled and gone to Toshiba's website. Does anyone know anything about this model? Any help is appreciated.

 

It all most sounds like a typo in the model number.

 

I thought so also, however I went to the store and read the number right off the side of the box (which was locked in a case). I was able to see a few of the stats, however I was wanting more info if possible. The model number was also in the Wal-mart add I got through the mail.

I am 100% positive. I saw that on Wal-mart's site as well. However this is definately a A215-S7416. That is the number in the add, as well as the number on the box in the locked case, at the store. The limited info on the specs is
15.4 display
AMD 64x2 TK53 processor
120gb hard drive
2048mb RAM
"reads and writes CD's and DVD's"
Vista home basic

 

Yes, I tried to google it too after I received the Wal-mart ad. You probably won't find out anything about it on the web for at least a few weeks or more. I have seen this before even with ones sold at Best Buy.

The A215-7416 is the same as the A215-7413, except it comes with 2gb memory!

 

hello everybody, i'm new to this forum and very quite new to computers so please bear w/me. i 've been reading throught the "stickys" and still have some questions. 1st off i too have this add. i'm lookin to geta laptop. i'll be surging the net, viewing pics, vids, music, and although not a gamer would like to play a game on it from time to time. my job requires me to take online test. so i need something that will have a good display. price range....well
the toshiba in this add and the compaq right next to it is perfect. fairly cheap.
my questions r whats the difference in the processors? which one is better/faster or fits what i want to do with it? here r the spces on the compaq.

The Toshiba is a lot better for the price.
Dual-core CPU
2x the memory at 2GB which you will need.

 

The Compaq has a celeron processor, so forget about that and go with the Toshiba as Allan said.

What speed is the CPU? You should get at least 1.6mhz. Some games out there require 1.4mhz minimum.
Graphic or video card min. 254m, the more the better; otherwise it sounds ok.

radeon x1200 is an integrated card with shared ram memory from 128mb to 319 .... anyway if u want a gaming laptop integrated cards are not an option .... If it's just casual gaming then maybe ...


I'm going to have that laptop as a christmas present most likely ...

Since I'm a Linux user I wonder if anybody around here knows if there will be some problems with Linux + this Toshiba

I googled a bit but found nothing, so the next step was googling about the parts ... Radeon x1200 is a bit letdown as it doesn't have good open source drivers yet, but will have in the future thanks to Redonhd project .. so I guess at start I can use the 2d only mode or go with the binnary blob fglrx.
Wi-fi seems to be 50% to 50%. there are open source drivers for it but I didn't get the info on how well those drivers work ...

Any other problems I could experience ?
